Taste of Tribeca 2018

Taste of Tribeca 2018

Rain or shine...

The vendors and crowds all gathered around Duane Street on Saturday 5/19 despite the downpour for the annual Taste of Tribeca - Lower Manhattan’s food festival that supports arts and enrichment programs at PS 150 and PS 234.

A group of us arrived a little before 11:30 am to partake in the festival.  I spent some time researching the vendors the night before..I had a few places jotted down but the final call really depends on how the dish is presented on the plate.

For 2018, the tasting fee was $39 from pulsed. You get 6 dishes, 1 non-alcoholic beverage, and 2 beer/ciders at participating bars. If you plan it well, you can also get free wine tastings at 5 other wineries nearby.

In the end, I tasted 11 different dishes (had the hand rolls from Takahachi twice), 4 beers, and 2 beverages.

Here were the notable dishes:

Top Left: Tetsu - braised wagyu brisketTop Right: Marc Forgione - RibBottom Left: Parm - free chicken parm sandwichBottom Right: 1803 - Ceviche

We also got bunch of free goodies, such as a cactus plant from WeWork, Izze drinks and kitchen gadgets from Halstead/Wells Fargo, and sandwiches from Brookfield Place as well as Hook & Ladder 8.  We enjoyed our beer and cider at Reade Street Pub (real beer mug vs. plastic cup at Hideaway) while we waited for the rain to die down (it never did).
