Fridays Under 40
Wanna get some culture in you or needing an idea to impress your date? Stop by Met Opera for a Friday night performance where your admission also includes a pre-show party featuring complimentary wine.
The only catch? You need to be under age 40 to purchase the ticket and it is limited to 2 tickets per person. So if you are over 40, make sure your ticket is purchased by someone under 40 as the Box office might ask for your ID.
A couple of us went to Met Opera on 2/16 for Le Boheme. It was my first opera at the Met (my very first one was in Budapest). I got there around 7:30 pm (the opera starts at 8 pm) and it was already packed with people where it was a bit tough to get around. I quickly picked up our ticket from the Box office and headed up to the Revlon Bar on the Grand Tier to enjoy the complimentary wine. I only had enough time to try the featured white wine and it was delicious and refreshing! Our friends got there early and were lucky enough to snatch a table by the window with crackers, cheese, and grapes.
At 8 pm, we all headed inside for the opera. I have the say, it was GRAND….
During intermission, we stopped by the Belmont Room, courtesy of my friend by becoming a member at Met Opera. It was an oasis ..no lines at the ladies’ room and the bar.
For my first opera experience at the Met, Le Boheme was a great one to start with. The story line was easy to follow and the music was beautiful. The dialogues were a bit cheesy and of course the couple fell in love within the first 5 mins they met, but that is the typical love story of the time.
