July 2 - 6, 2015 (5D4N):  The perfect long weekend getaway from NYC.  You can certainly fly into Quebec City or Montreal (2.5hr away from QC) instead of an 8+ hour drive.  We left on a Friday after work and stayed at a hotel across from the broader before continuing our drive to Quebec City.  QC is a mini version of Paris, except is cheaper with friendlier locals.

Day 1

• Drive to Montreal (7 hr 30 mins)

• Stop for food on I87 service station

• Check-in @ Holiday Inn Express St. Jean Sur Richelieu*

Day 2

• Depart for Quebec City (3.5hr)

• Check-in @ Hotel Du Vieux Quebec*

• Old Quebec/Upper town

  • Lunch @ Paillard*

  • Morrin Centre (tour on the hour)

  • Basilique Cathedrale (1am-6pm; free)

• Lower Town/Quartier du Petit Champlain

  • Coffee @ Le Petit Cochon (closed)

  • Musee de la Civilisation (free 30 mins before closing)

  • Place Royale

  • Montmorency Park National Historic Site

• Terrasse Dufferin & Le Chateau Frontenac (photo only)

• City Hall for the Quebec City festival

• Saint-Roch district:

  • Dinner @ L’Affaire Est Ketchup*

Day 3

• La Citadelle de Quebec

• Quick bite @ Alwadi

• Hotel du Parlement (9:30-4:30pm; free tour)

• Saint John district:

  • J.A. Moisan (grocery store)

  • Érico (a chocolate shop beloved by locals & museum)

  • Lunch @ Le Billig* (crepe)

  • Le Paingrüel Boulangerie (bakery)

• Walked to Old Port (closed at 5pm)

• Ferry to Levi (10 mins ride; $7 RT/p)

• La Promenade des Gouverneurs

• Dinner @ L’Entrecote Saint-Jean*

Day 4

• Breakfast @ Paillard*

• Drive to Montmorency Falls Park (~1.5hr; $12 can park at both lots)

• I’lle d’orleans

  • Strawberry farms

  • Polycuture Plante

  • Small farm in the east southern tip

  • Drive around the island

  • Lunch @ Friterie de I’lle*

• Drive to Montreal (3.5 hr)

• Check-in @ Le Nouvel Hotel

• Dinner @ Les Deux Gamins*

• Walk around St. Laurent

Day 5

• Lunch @ Schwartz*

• Visit Ile Notre Dame

  • Casino

  • Grand Prix course (your car can go on it!)

• Depart for NYC

  • Stop by duty free @ border
