Old Westbury Garden
Ever since my friend had her wedding photoshoot here, I made a mental note to return for a more thorough visit. During my research, I found out you can visit the house & garden for FREE!! It sure beats paying $12 per adult but some planning is required.
1) Only certain weekends are free. Check the website for the latest update.
2) You need to present a valid Bank of America credit card, debit card, or ATM per person for the free admission.
3) Make sure you bookmark that particular weekend on your calendar so you donβt miss it!
On a beautiful Ocotober Sunday afternoon, we embarked for the journey that took us about an hour from Manhattan. When arriving at the parking entrance, we told the booth attendee that we had BofA credit cards and she just waived us through. I got lucky as my card expired few months ago!!
Once parked, there was a short walk to get to the top of hill. Your are first greeted by the beautiful house.
They offer free guide tours if you have time. We decided to tour the house on our own since the guided tour was getting too crowded.
The house was well preserved and you get to tour the common area as well as the beautiful bedrooms on the 2nd floor.
Touring the house was just half the fun as the garden was still blooming with flowers in βearly October.
The place was also getting ready for Halloween so unfortunately certain sections of the garden were closed π
Follow lilac walk down to the Walled Garden β¬οΈ
And you will come upon this beautiful lily pond.
Flowers πΈ booming every corner you turn!
Exit from the Walled Garden and you will find yourself positioned for the view you came here for!
Take another stroll back to the garden once you are done soaking in the view.
You will find a secret cottage along the way!
Our day ended with tons of amazing photos and a history lesson. If you are into mansions and historical houses, do not miss this beauty!
