Master of None

Master of None

Aug. 2017

After watching an episode on Master of None, I googled for “Storm King Art Center” and started planning a trip there.  Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor sculpture park with hiking trails and picnic space.

The drive from Manhattan was easy (1:20 hr) and we spent about 2 hours there. The entry fee was a bit steep in my opinion ($18).  Just got word from a friend that Storm King offers free admission during the summer on the last Thursday of June, July, and August.

After parking our car in the South lot, we caught the tram departing from its origin (gray elevator structure). There are also pickup points at various parking lots but your chance of getting a seat is higher at the origin.

The tram went through a loop (you will get a map* showing the route) touching The Meadows, North Woods, and South Fields (in that order).  We stayed on for the entire loop to get a good lay of the land.  We then visited the museum building (featuring David Smith's work) and walked from Museum Hill to North Woods. We saw some of the most spectacular sculptures.  Here are some notable ones:

*The map is dated Sept. 2016 so some of the sculptures might be different
