St. Barts
Oct. 14, 2024: An elusive island of Saint Bertanmy that is not easily reachable by many. One of the easiest ways to get there is to take a ferry from St. Martin/Marteen in under an hour. There are three ferry companies that you can consider; given we were staying near Simpson Bary (the Dutch side of the island), we went with Edge Ferry. Upon arrival, we rented an ATV to visit the beaches on the island.
*Highly Recommended
9 - 9:45 am: Edge ferry* to Gustavia from Simpson Bay Resort via Aqua Marina Adventures ($100 RT; one sailing per day on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
Pick-up ATV rental from EZ LOC St Barth (€75/day)
Plage du Gouverneur* (snorkeling & clothing optional)
Anse de Grande Saline* (we had the whole beach to ourselves; great for swimming)
Plage de Grand Fond (too much seaweed)
Lunch @ Le Petit Colombe* or La Plage
Lookout point* before the Colombier Beach Trail
Colombier Plage (20 mins hike OW)
Explore Gustavia (Walk around the charming harbor, visit local shops, and take in the French-influenced architecture)
4-4:45 pm: Edge ferry to Simpson Bay Resort
Other points of interest & food:
Shell Beach (walkable beach from Gustavia)
Tips:
The euro is the official currency on the island. Credit cards are widely accepted as well.
Refer to this site to plan your ferry trip from St. Martin/Maarten. Then I’d suggest buying tickets from the specific ferry site.
October was still the low season, so double-check the restaurant’s operating hours.
