Anguilla
October 12, 2024: During our second visit to St. Martin, we took a short ferry to visit Anguilla. Since the island is relatively small, renting a scooter and visiting all the pristine white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters on a day trip is suitable. The island is so quaint that the locals take the ferry to St. Martin to watch a movie. It is the ultimate destination for a laid-back tropical retreat.
8:30 am - 9 am: Ferry to Anguilla from Port de Marigot (see ticket prices below)
Pick-up scooter from Andy’s Car Rental* (credit card accepted)
Shoal Bay Beach* (Great for snorkeling by the eastern portion of the beach)
Lunch @ Elvis’ Beach bar* (credit card accepted)
Swim
Meads Bay Beach (strong waves)
Rendezvous Bay* (Good for swimming; beautiful view of St. Marteen; one of the prettiest beaches to catch the sunset)
5:15 pm: Ferry back to St. Martin
Tips:
Since ferry tickets aren’t available online, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the ferry departures.
One-way ticket: $30/30€, payable in cash onboard the boat. Add 7€ passenger per head fee (cash or card) at the ticket office. Upon arrival, plan for Anguilla's port tax: $11 for day visitors or $28 for visitors staying more than 12 hours.
Our ferry was severely delayed during both journeys. Just be patient and allow for extra time with your scheduled events.
