May 26 - 29, 2017 (4D3N): Road trip from NYC to Maine during Memorial Weekend. It took us over 7 hours to get to Portland but the drive was worth it! We had endless count of lobster rolls and got in touch with the nature at Acadia National Park.

Drive to Portland from NYC (7 hr and 25 mins)

Day 2
Drive to Acadia National Park (3 hr from Portland; $25 parking permit)

South Bubble Rock Hike* (1 mile)
Ocean Path Hike* (2 miles)
Check-in @ Atlantic Oceanside Hotel (nice indoor pool/jacuzzi)
Bar Harbor:
Bar Island Hike (during low tide; ~ after 5pm in May)
Walk around town
Dinner @ Thirsty Whale*
Day 3
Acadia National Park
Cadillac Mountain* (0.5 miles hike; drive all the way to the top to park)
Seal Harbor
Asticou Azalea Garden* (free, beautiful garden)
Lunch @ Down East Lobster Pound*
Drive to Portland/Kennebunkport (3.5hrs):
Allagash Brewing Company* (free tour + free tasting)
Check in @ Nonantum Resort*
Dinner @ Mabelβs Lobster Claw*
Day 4
Drive/walk around Kennebunkport:
Colony beach
Walk around the cute charming town
Lunch @ The Clam Shack & ice cream @ Rococo*
Tips
While May was a nice time to visit Acadia, the beaches by Bar Harbor and Kennebunkport were too cold to swim in.
